Think North

Austerity, women & health inequalities

My name is Amy Greer Murphy. I am an Irish PhD student at Durham University. My PhD is examining the role of mothers in Stockton-on-Tees in an age of austerity, and the impact of austerity on health inequalities. My research is Leverhulme Trust funded, and part of Local Health Inequalities in an Age of Austerity, the Stockton-on-Tees project [].

I am passionate about political participation, gender equality, the welfare state, and the lack of reproductive freedom afforded to the women of Ireland.
